Prep baseball: Warriors edge Mavs 5-3

The Edmonds-Woodway baseball team scored early then held on late to defeat the Meadowdale Mavericks 5-3 Tuesday at Edmonds-Woodway High School.

The Warriors never trailed in the contest, picking up a single run in the first inning and three more in the second. Tai Starchman led the E-W offense by going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI.

Ian Michael earned the complete game win for the Warriors by scattering four hits, giving up just one earned run, striking striking out seven and walking four.

The two teams will complete their two-game series on Wednesday, Apr. 17, with a 4 p.m. game at Meadowdale High School.
