Dayton Street construction work set to begin May 13

The City of Edmonds said Friday that construction work on the Dayton Street Utility Replacement Project is scheduled to begin May 13 with pot holing, surveying, installing erosion control measures, and mobilizing equipment.

According to the latest schedule, actual construction work will begin May 20. The project will replace the street and upsize the existing sanitary sewer, potable water and storm water drain pipes from 3rd Avenue South to 9th Avenue South. The goal of the project is to replace old sewer and water pipes while increasing capacity to the city’s drainage system. Increasing drainage capacity will help to alleviate flooding in downtown Edmonds during intense rain events, the city said.

A public meeting is set for Wednesday, May 8, from 6 to 7:30 pm in City Hall, Brackett Room. Citizens and business owners are invited to meet the contractor and the city’s construction management team, and learn more about the project specifics, phasing, public impacts and proposed construction schedule.
