Edmonds CC Memorial Day ceremony honors fallen service members

The Memorial Day procession went from the Black Box Theatre in Mukilteo Hall to the Boots and Books and Beyond Monument located in the Edmonds Community College courtyard.
Rintamaki (left) and Szarek (right) followed a path marked with American flags labeled with names of fallen military service members.
Lt. Col. Jon Ramer, retired U.S. Air Force veteran, recognized elected officials, military personnel and their families during the ceremony.
Joe Winkelman, retired U.S. Army veteran, was the keynote speaker at the Memorial Day ceremony.
Linda Kappus played “America the Beautiful” on piano, inviting members of the audience to sing along.
Edmonds Community College drama students performed the Missing Man Table ceremony. The table honors fallen, missing or imprisoned military service members.
Flutist Peter Ali performed during the ceremony’s “A Time to Remember” slideshow.
Edmonds Community College hosted its sixth annual Memorial Day Ceremony Wednesday, May 22, in the college’s Black Box Theatre. The ceremony invited members of the community to celebrate and honor military service personnel who have fought and died for their country.
This year’s ceremony paid tribute to D-Day veterans who served during WWII. The ceremony included a keynote address from retired U.S. Army veteran Joe Wankelman and performances by flutist Peter Ali and pianist Linda Kappus.
