With a second-half goal by senior Jacob Guenther, the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors defeated the Shorewood Thunderbirds 1-0 in a District 1 3A Boys Soccer Tournament quarterfinal game played Saturday at Shoreline Stadium.
The shutout victory comes after the Warriors — seeded No. 6 in the district tourney — had also held opponents scoreless in their final two matches of the regular season (Mountlake Terrace on April 30 and Shorewood on April 24).
With Saturday’s district tournament win, the Warriors will next face their rival Meadowdale Mavericks for a spot in the state tournament later this month. The Warriors-Mavs district tourney clash will take place on Tuesday, May 7, 6 p.m. at Shoreline Stadium.

Doug,
Thanks for the write up on EW boys soccer. I wanted to clarify one thing – when you said that EW had held Mountlake Terrace scoreless in their final regular season game. The final score was actually 2-1 in overtime. At the end of regulation it was 1-1 and EW scored in overtime to win.
Thanks,
Sanford
