  1. Awesome shots! As always, Julia captures great images. We turned off the TV set and sat in our upstairs bedroom and watched the show last night for an hour. Thanks Julia!

  2. Great shots Julia! I was hoping you were home to capture them. That first flash of lightning was so bright and loud I felt like it was happening right on my patio .

  3. Thank you everyone for your very kind comments. I am a Seattle native and have never seen a storm such as this! After many failed shots, I finally captured a few and am always happy to share.

    1. Thank you!!! WOW!!!

It was a pretty astounding show last night and the most dramatic and lengthy thunderstorms I have ever lived through. I saw some strikes also vertical along the Sound. I hope this is not what we should be expecting in the future as it certainly was atypical and hard on our pets.

  4. I’ve seen & heard storms like this in the Midwest, but for the PNW it was a very unusual storm. Very active, and very loud. A lot of the lightning was above the cloud cover, so the whole sky lit up like a cheap community theatrical production trying to simulate lightning by flicking the lights.

I had three dogs on my lap the whole time.

  5. We live in Mukilteo for 30+ years and we could just see sheet lightening. We noted the frequency and thunder was approaching Texas lightning storms, which were majestic, and that this was the most severe we could recall for all our time here. I wondered if anyone could see the bolts. Great photos, thanks so much.
