An Arizona pet stylist has brought her 20 years of experience in pet grooming to Edmonds and opened a new dog spa at Five Corners.

Muddy Pawz Dog Spa owner Andrea Skelton said after two decades of working for other people, she decided to open her own business. Skelton was trained at the PetSmart Academy before the company discontinued the academy in favor of in-store training.

Muddy Pawz opened at the end of July and offers service ranging from a quick brush out to a full-service grooming.

“We freshen them up and send them home to sleep in bed with their owners,” she said.

Skelton said she likes to be involved in the pet community and plans to continue to be active in it with her new business. She offers her services to local rescues that foster dogs and provides discounted services to the Northwest Greyhound Rescue.

Muddy Pawz will also co-sponsor the first ever Paws in the Pool dog swim event at Yost Park on Sept 21.

Additionally, Skelton said she offers a variety of discounts, because she wants to provide the community with affordable services.

“I love what I do so as far as being in it for the money, it’s definitely not that,” she said.

Muddy Pawz Dog Spa is located at 8416 Bowdoin Way.
