Floretum announces grant program to fund school gardens

The school garden at Chase Lake Elementary.

Edmonds Floretum Garden Club is offering teachers in the Edmonds School District financial support to plan and implement gardening projects for their students.

The funds could be used for garden beds, instructional units, plants and other gardening materials, assistance with building, planting, watering, or other ideas being considered. Initial grants up to $500 are renewable.

The application period opens Oct. 15 and closes Nov. 22. The first awards will be announced in mid-December; after that, there will be a rolling deadline for any remaining funds. Funds will be paid directly to the school principal.
