Edmonds-Woodway will be sending one singles player and a doubles team to the state championships next spring after their strong outings at the District 1 3A Boys Tennis Tournament that was completed in Arlington on Wednesday.
The Warriors’ Sebastian Fernandez placed second in the singles’ competition at the district tourney; Fernandez fell to Lynnwood’s Nicolas Desgrippes in the district singles’ title match 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, but the runner-up finish was good enough to earn a berth to state.
The E-W doubles’ team of Russell Anderson and Zach Foreman will also be going to state next spring after a consolation round win over Everett’s Aaron Robertson and Grant Mueller on Wednesday; Anderson and Foreman defeated Robertson and Mueller 7-6(7), 5-7, 7-5.
The state championships will be held in Kennewick on May 29-30, 2020.
