In a showdown of two of the top teams in the 3A Wesco League South Conference, the Snohomish Panthers scored the first 17 points of the game and went on to claim a 24-14 victory over the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors Friday at Edmonds Stadium.
Ethan Davis and Steele Swinton found the end zone on second-half rushing touchdowns but it would be too little and too late for Edmonds-Woodway.
The loss was the first for the Warriors in league play this season, dropping the team into a four-way tie for first place in the conference with the 3-1 Panthers, Meadowdale Mavericks and Shorecrest Scots.
E-W (3-1 in 3A Wesco League South Conference, 3-3 overall) will travel to Shoreline Stadium on Friday, Oct. 18, for a 7 p.m. matchup against the Shorewood Thunderbirds.
