The Meadowdale Mavericks edged out the two-time defending champion Mountlake Terrace Hawks to win the girls swim Edmonds School District Championships held Saturday at the Lynnwood Pool. 

The Mavs’ final 30-point advantage over the Hawks was boosted with victories in two of the three relay races at the meet.

Grace Morgan and Jersey Razzano led Meadowdale to the team victory, each winning two individual events and helping with the Mavs’ two relay wins. Morgan took home first in the 200 Yard Freestyle and the 500 Yard Freestyle while Razzano was victorious in the 100 Yard Freestyle and the 100 Yard Backstroke; the pair teamed up with Faith Urquhart and Emma Bray to finish first in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.

Edmonds-Woodway’s Alexis Song captured two individual event wins at the meet; Song won the 100 Yard Butterfly and the 200 Yard Individual Medley.

Rounding out the race winners on Saturday were Terrace’s Tiffany Vuong in the 50 Yard Freestyle and Carly Stave in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. Vuong and Stave, along with teammates Bre Enriquez and Emma Van Hooser, took first in the 200 Yard Medley Relay.

All four teams at the meet will next swim at their respective WIAA district meets on Nov. 8 and 9. Meadowdale, Edmonds-Woodway and Lynnwood will compete at the District 1 3A Championships at the Snohomish Aquatic Center while Mountlake Terrace will head to Fidalgo Pool in Anacortes for the District 1/2 2A Championships. The events will be the last chance for swimmers to qualify for the state meet to be held Nov. 15 and 16 in Federal Way.
