It’s the final week of the prep football 2019 regular season, but the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors and Meadowdale Mavericks hope that performances this Friday will lead to more football this year.

The Warriors (5-4) and Mavericks (5-4) will contest for berths in the WIAA 3A State Football Tournament when they take on opponents on Friday, Nov. 8, in Week 10 Playoff games.

E-W will travel to face the Yelm Tornados (6-3) while Meadowdale will jump over to Bellevue to take on the Wolverines (7-2); both games kickoff at 7 p.m.

The winners of the Warriors-Tornados game and the Mavs-Wolverines contest will punch their ticket to the 16-team 3A state tournament that begins with games on Nov. 15 and 16; matchups will be determined by committee seeding.

The Warriors-Tornadoes clash will feature two teams that like to run the ball and play physical. Both teams sport dynamic running back duo: E-W will run the ball with junior Steele Swinton and Ben Grimes while Yelm will heavily use Carson Amendt and Bradley McGannon, a big 6-4 255-pound lineman that is seeing additional snaps lined up in the Tornado backfield.

In the Meadowdale-Bellevue game, the Mavs —who have yielded 121 points in their last two outings — will be challenged to slow down a Wolverine offense that has averaged more than 34 points per game this year and is the No. 4-ranked 3A team in the state according to the most recent AP and Seattle Times state rankings.
