On goals from Deanna Montero-Vega and Sydney Scott, the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors defeated the Shorecrest Scots 2-1 in a District 1 3A Girls Soccer Tournament loser-out match played Thursday at Shoreline Stadium.
With the victory, the Warriors will play Saturday, Nov. 9 for the district tourney’s third-place trophy and a berth in the WIAA 3A State Girls Soccer Tournament. E-W, the district tournament’s No. 2 seed, will face the No. 1-seeded Snohomish Panthers at Shoreline Stadium; first kick is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Thursday’s win over the Scots came only after Scott scored her goal in the 71st minute for the Warriors. The match had been tied at halftime after Montero-Vego and Shorecrest’s Ava Jensen recorded goals in the first half .
