Prep volleyball: Mavs fall to undefeated. Eagles Tuesday

The Meadowdale Mavericks played the undefeated Arlington Eagles tough on Tuesday, but in the end couldn’t keep up with a team that some believe will contend for a state championship later this month.

The Mavs fell to the Eagles 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 28-26) at Arlington High School in the regular season finale for both teams.

With the victory, Arlington closed out its regular season at 14-0 and sewed up the No. 1 seed in the upcoming District 1 3A Volleyball Tournament, an event that Meadowdale hopes to play their way into on Thursday, Nov. 7.

The Mavs are the No. 10 seed in the district and will face the No. 7-seeded Shorecrest Scots in a tournament play-in loser-out contest to be staged at Shorecrest High School; first serve on Thursday is set for 7 p.m.

The winner of the Mavs-Scots play-in match will face the No. 2-seed Snohomish Panthers in a tournament first round matchup on Nov. 12.
