The District 1 3A Volleyball Tournament shifts into full gear this week and the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors hope to shine — and earn a spot in the 3A state tourney as a result.
The Warriors are the No. 4 seed in the eight-team double-elimination district tourney; the top three teams to emerge from the competition will receive berths in the WIAA 3A State Volleyball Tournament that takes place Nov. 22 and 23 in Yakima.
E-W will host the No. 5-seeded Ferndale Eagles on Tuesday, Nov. 12, in a first-round district tournament match; win or lose, the Warriors will play again on Thursday, Nov. 14, taking on either the Lynnwood Royals or the Arlington Eagles at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
The Warriors finished the regular season with an impressive 11-3 record in the 3A Wesco League, 12-3 overall, and are riding a 10-game winning streak going into the district tournament. E-W’s only losses this season have been to the three teams seeded above them at the district tourney: No. 1 seed Arlington, No. 2 seed Snohomish and No. 3 seed Oak Harbor.
E-W is looking for its first trip to the state tournament since 2014.
