Public invited to meet South County Fire Chief finalists Nov. 14

The public is invited to meet the three finalists for South County Fire Chief at a reception on Thursday, Nov. 14, 6-8 p.m., at South County Fire Headquarters, 12425 Meridian Ave. S, Everett.

The finalists are:

  • Bryan Brice, current Fire Chief for the City of Mount Vernon.
  • Christopher Riley, a retired Fire Chief most recently at the City of Colorado Springs.
  • Brian Schaeffer, current Fire Chief for the City of the Spokane.

South County Fire is the largest provider of fire and emergency medical services in Snohomish County. The regional fire authority employs 279 uniformed firefighters and serves more than 250,000 residents in Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace and unincorporated communities.

The South County Fire Board of Commissioners and elected officials from the cities served by the regional fire authority will participate in candidate interviews. The Board of Commissioners anticipates having a new fire chief selected by the end of November and on the job around the first of the year.

  1. Let’s not select a new chief who will probably only work a few more years. That happens all too much with public service positions.
