Rain didn’t dampen the spirits of shoppers during opening day of the Holiday Market in downtown Edmonds Saturday, with vendors offering an array of holiday gifts, food, wines, flowers and treats.
The market will run on five more Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 16 and 23, and Dec. 7, 14 and 21, skipping Thanksgiving weekend Saturday (Nov. 30) when the Holiday Tree Lighting festivities will take place.
The market is one of several holiday events in Edmonds, including the annual Holiday Tree Lighting event Nov. 30, the Downtown Holiday Trolley on Saturdays in December, the Christmas Ships, free holiday movies for the kids, the third annual “Jingle Those Bells” Caroling Contest, street music, lights and decorations.

Farmers markets around Seattle were originally cheaper because products were sold directly from Farmers or artists to local patrons. Now, anything sold in an open market is at least twice as expensive as goods sold in stores. Shame!
