Frances Anderson Center and Edmonds City Hall are hosting a Giving Tree program sponsored by the City of Edmonds and Volunteers of America. Just select a tag for a child, provided by Volunteers of America Western Washington, and the gifts you purchase will be donated to local children through Christmas House, which serves residents of Snohomish County.
The tags are for children from 1 to 12 years of age and are designated for students and families in the ECEAP (Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program) preschools and children in the Volunteers of America Short-Term Shelter.
Purchase the gift, wrap it and bring it to either location by Dec. 16. Edmonds City Hall is located at 121 5th Ave. N. and the Frances Anderson Center is located at 700 Main St.
The Celebration of Lights event is also taking place at the Frances Anderson Center. This donation program goes toward the Edmonds Youth Scholarship Fund, which enables participation in recreation programs by Edmonds children who would not otherwise have the opportunity. The display is on the main floor of the Frances Anderson Center building, and will last until Jan. 2. Donate $5 per light in honor of, remembrance of or something you wish for. Donations of greater than $5 will be noted with a star. Forms are available at the Frances Anderson Center, over the phone at 425-771-0230 or online at www.reczone.org, search “Celebration of Lights”.
