The Rev. Greg Peters and Senior Warden Dan Mullene from Edmonds St. Alban’s Episcopal Church recently presented Chase Lake Elementary Community School Principal Sean Silver and Vonya King-Norton, Family Support Coordinator, with a check for $1,429 from donations received from the church’s Dec. 1 Winter’s Return Christmas concert.
In addition, the school received 74 food items for the back-pack program from the church. The members of St. Alban’s also donated $925 in gift cards to Fred Meyer and WinCo Foods grocery stores to help families in need.
St. Alban’s joins several other South Snohomish churches in continuing to support Chase Lake School through a variety of outreach programs funded by church members and special community events.
Chase Lake Safety Net program works to reduce hurdles to success caused by poverty, homelessness, and family disruption by providing immediate emergency help with basic needs (food, clothing, transportation) as well as family advocacy and help connecting with community providers. The program also provides a safe and stable environment to its students so they can focus on their education. This is the 5th year that St. Alban’s has held a Christmas concert to support this cause.
