After earning a pair of tournament victories over the previous two days, the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors found themselves in the championship game of the Fort Vancouver Holiday Tournament on Sunday. But the Warriors would have to settle for a second-place tourney trophy after a loss to the Central Valley Bears of Spokane.
Central Valley soundly defeated the Warriors 84-49 in the title game of the holiday tourney played at Fort Vancouver High School in southwest Washington.
Ten Bears scored in the blowout, four reaching double-figures. Noah Sanders led the way with 16 points, Gavin Gilstrap contributed 13 points and Quinn Johnson and Carsen Raab each tallied 10 points.
Mutdung Bol scored 15 points for the Warriors in the loss.
Central Valley showed why their No. 7 spot in the WIAA 4A state RPI rankings is legitimate, winning all three of their contests in the Fort Vancouver tourney by an average margin of 31 points.
E-W is currently No. 36 in the 3A state RPI, but the team will surely rise in that ranking after winning two of three games it played at the Vancouver tournament.
The Warriors will return to Wesco League play this Friday, Jan. 3 vs. the Oak Harbor Wildcats. Tipoff is set for 7:15 p.m.
