The Edmonds-Woodway Warriors girls basketball team dropped its second game of the season, losing 50-49 to the Juanita Rebels Saturday at Juanita High School.
After trailing 34-17 at halftime, E-W held the Rebels to just 16 second half points; but the Warriors fell short in their comeback attempt and took the one-point loss.
Brooke Kearney led the Warriors in scoring with 16 points.
E-W was defeated earlier in the week by Lynden Christian 68-34 in the team’s season opener.
The Warriors have another test when they travel down the road to Shoreline to face the Kings Knights — a team that qualified for the regional round of the 1A state playoffs last year – on Tuesday, Dec. 10; tipoff at Kings High School is set for 7 p.m.
In other sports action Saturday, the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors’ wrestling team had a strong outing in the Edmonds-Woodway Tournament held at E-W. The squad finished tied for fourth in the team standings and saw seven wrestlers earn podium finishes.
Orting easily won the team title at the tourney, outdistancing runner-up Yelm by almost 50 points in the team standings.
