In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Edmonds resident Jenna Nand is organizing a day of service event that involves assembling care packages for the local homeless population. Homeless cold weather care package items
Storage:
1 drawstring backpack or tote or duffel bag ($1 at Dollar Store)
Large ziploc bags
Warmth:

1 knitted cap ($1 at Dollar Store)
1 scarf ($1 at Dollar Store)
3 sets of hand warmers (REI?)
3 sets of feet warmers (REI?)

Hygiene and Grooming:
I set of toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and mini mouthwash ($1 each at Dollar Store)
1 mini set of shampoo and conditioner ($1 at Dollar Store)
1 bar of soap (multipack for $1 at Dollar Store)
1 deodorant (multipack for $1 at Dollar Store)
1 mini bottle of body lotion (multipack for $1 at Dollar Store)

1 giftcard for a hot drink or a hot meal, e.g. McDonalds.
1 precharged power bank for extra mobile phone battery life ($9 at Best Buy).
Thank you for promoting our event! We have already raised hundreds of dollars and gotten in kind donations from local businesses like Ombu Salon + Spa. If you aren’t able to attend the event tomorrow, please consider donating online or dropping items off for the care packages.
Great job Ms Nand! Hopefully your event is an ongoing one as the need is beyond the election years. Next year contact us, HARU, and we can provide gloves and other items. We served over 850 Thanksgiving, and 925 Christmas baskets, along with 425 children receiving toys. We were one of many groups who gave to Christmas House over 12000.00 and a semi load of toys in a annul event.
