Edmonds native Nicole Betts has joined Sanders Law Group as a full-time associate.
Betts attended college at Western Washington University and Central Washington University. She has a bachelor of arts in sociology and bachelors of science degrees in political science and interdisciplinary studies.
After college, Betts clerked for two years at Hart Jarvis Murray Chang, a personal injury and criminal defense firm.
After deciding to pursue a legal career, Betts studied law at Seattle University. Due to the influence of a friend who practiced tribal elder law, she took classes in tribal law, estate planning and elder care.
Her professor, an elder law attorney, referred her to Peggy Sanders at Sanders Law Group, where she became an intern and legal assistant while still attending law school. Because of Betts’ increased interest in elder law, she took classes in advanced estate planning and elder care ethics. During this period, she also worked part-time at Terri’s Toybox in downtown Edmonds.
Betts received her JD and passed the Washington State Bar in 2019.
According to a Sanders Law Group announcement, Betts wanted to start her career at Sanders Law Group because of her commitment to elders, and because of complex and challenging cases handled by the firm. She also appreciates the opportunity to be a part of the firm’s personal, approachable and welcoming environment, the announcement said.
A graduate of Edmonds-Woodway High School, Betts enjoys kayaking and dog walking, and she also rescues and fosters animals in need.
