Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Sunday afternoon took a 34-year-old Edmonds man into custody following a five-hour standoff in the Meadowdale area of unincorporated Edmonds.

According to Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Courtney O’Keefe, deputies responded Sunday morning to a reported family disturbance in the 5000 block of 163rd Place Southwest, where the armed man was barricaded inside his residence. (While the home has an Edmonds post office address, it is not located within Edmonds city limits, so the sheriff’s office has jurisdiction.)

Around 12:30 p.m., the Region 1 SWAT team responded to the scene and the man surrendered. He was safely taken into custody, with no injuries reported to the suspect or any deputies, O’Keefe added.
