During the month of November, customers may experience temporary slowdowns at the Southwest Recycling and Transfer Station in Mountlake Terrace, as the county works to replace both compactors at the facility.

According to Snohomish County Public Works, the county will be replacing both compactors during this time, but they will be replaced one at a time to avoid a complete disruption in service.

  1. Would have been nice if they had of done this during the two months they decided to close because of Covid.

  2. I’m surprised we don’t have compactors in the Safeway stores like they do in Oregon. That way people can recycle themselves and make a few bucks (daily limit $7).

  3. Um, except we didnt close for 2 months? We were closed for 5 sundays back in March? Maybe April/May, and yes our hours of operation were reduced to 07:00-16:30, but we never closed completely. The drop boxes did close, but the 3 main transfer stations remained open, albeit, with reduced hours. We, the employees dont get to pick and choose what time the maintenance crews come in to do their work. Please check your facts before leaving comments on an online forum. Thanks.
