Now that the holiday gifts are unwrapped, you may be looking for a place to donate items you no longer need. Meadowdale High School’s Key Club invites you to participate in a Fill the Goodwill Truck fundraiser this Saturday, Jan. 15.
The event will run from 2-5 p.m. in the school parking lot at 6002 168th St. S.W. The Key Club receives $600 for every filled truck and $300 for half a truck.
Accepted items include clothing, shoes, household items, books, toys, sports equipment and tools. Also accepted is e-waste: small electronics, computers, TVs, monitors and speakers — even if broken.
Goodwill does not allow furniture larger than an end table, mattresses or hazardous waste.
We came by at 4:15 and no one was there. Another car also drove up with donations. We waited for a few minutes but no one came.

Here’s what the organizer said about the event: The Meadowdale Key Club thanks the community so much for your generous donations during our Saturday January 15 Goodwill Fill the Truck event at Meadowdale High School. With your support, we were able to fill two Goodwill trailers in just 90 minutes. Unfortunately, the Goodwill had no other trucks available to deliver and had to close the donations. If you arrived and were unable to donate, the Key Club is sorry to have missed you and appreciates you!
I got there shortly before 2, and waited in line a few minutes. There were two container units waiting to be filled by the volunteers. My guess is they filled those up and closed the event earlier than scheduled.
