On video: Crows at UW Bothell

Sam Spencer’s video captures thousands of crows gathered at the University of Washington Bothell campus Sunday, Jan. 23.

  1. An amazing video! Shades of an Alfred Hitchcock movie from my youth. It seems as though the Crow population in our own Edmonds neighborhood has grown considerably.

  2. Does anyone know whether this many crows in one place is unusual? Or does this happen every year? Very interesting video — as well as the picture from the other day.

    1. A few years ago I worked as a contractor out at AT&T in Bothell off of North Creek Parkway, not far from the UW Bothell campus. During my time there (about four years) it was not uncommon during Spring and Autumn each year to see large groups of crows gathered on the play fields off of NE 196th ST/Beardslee Blvd. Perhaps not quite as many as in the video, however, still a good number as I recall. Thus I would not consider the number of crows in the video to be all that unusual. And yes, there were the requesite references to a particular Alfred Hitchcock movie passed between my boss and I.
