The City of Edmonds is holding a virtual kick-off meeting for the Highway 99 Gateway-Revitalization Stage 2 Project. The kick-off meeting will be held via Zoom on Thursday, June 16th from 6-7 p.m.

During the meeting, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about the project and learn more information. You can access the meeting at this link:

Construction is scheduled to begin June 13 for the project, which includes safety improvements for Highway 99 throughout Edmonds, between 244th and 210th Streets Southwest. It will convert the existing two-way left turn lane to a raised median with mid-block left-turn pockets along certain sections, as well as landscaped raised median and C-Curb along other sections to improve safety along the entire corridor. In addition, a High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) signal os scheduled to be installed just north of 234th Street Southwest to provide an additional pedestrian crossing and improve pedestrian safety along the corridor.

Gateway signs will also be added at each end of the City of Edmonds frontage on Highway 99 to help travelers identify the city limits of Edmonds and establish a consistent look that will be extended in future projects along this corridor.

If you wish to attend the virtual meeting but require language accommodations, contact the project team at 425-224-2424 at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting.

  1. Very happy to see this project starting. I see that construction is slated to start this coming Monday! It would be nice to have a bit more of a detailed description/timeline on what that will look like. I am assuming construction will have major traffic impacts for 99 and possibly some of the surrounding communities.

    1. Here’s the latest from the Highway 99 project manager: The 13th start will not disrupt traffic. The week of the 13th is preparatory work, i.e., erosion control, sign placement and mobilization activity such as bring in equipment in. The City has placed the Variable Message signs to alert the traveling public of the project start and to expect delays starting the 13th. I will be personally visiting all properties abutting the corridor starting tomorrow and Friday to talk to businesses about the project.
