A proposed hearing on the proposed 2022-23 Edmonds School District budget is among the items set to be discussed during the district board of directors meeting Tuesday, July 12 starting at 6:30 p.m.
Also on the agenda is an update on the district’s comprehensive sexual health implementation and a business and finance report.
Note that Tuesday night’s school board meeting is at a different location due to construction at the district office. The school board meeting is open to in-person attendance but according to a district post on Facebook Tuesday, it will not be live-streamed. It will be held in the Great Hall at Edmonds-Woodway High School, 7600 212th St. S.W., Edmonds. Attendees are asked to park in the south parking lot off of 76th Avenue West. Enter through the marked doors and follow signs to the Great Hall.

Yikes! No live streaming? A public hearing on the school district’s next budget, and the only way parents and citizens can observe or testify is to show up in person? I hope there will be an additional public hearing on the budget, one where we can observe and participate remotely, as we’ve come to expect.
Nobody is answering telephones at the school district office this summer, even direct lines to individual staff members are not answered.

The timing of the public hearing on the budget was dependent on having end-of-year financial information, and the timing of construction on the district office needed to be done in July when most staff are on vacation to minimize the disruption to district work. All district staff are working at various locations around the district.
Unfortunately the live stream and other remote Board options are not available outside the Board room.
That being said, the presentation on the proposed budget is available on the meeting agenda which is always available on the district website. The link to the meeting agenda is in the MEN article, and I’ve attached the link to the proposed budget directly here.
