If your plans call for ferry travel this summer, Washington State Patrol and the Edmonds and Mukilteo police departments will be watching for line cutting and other violations at both the Edmonds-Kingston and Mukilteo-Clinton docks.
“A friendly reminder — your parents and teachers probably taught you that it’s not polite to cut in front of others. In this case, it will also cost you $145,” Edmonds police said on Facebook.
They could solve this problem in Edmonds so easily by putting up cones or stanchions after the underpass on 104 to keep people from cutting in line.
The fine should be substantially more than $145, say $500. Make it hurt to discourage people from doing it. I have stopped people twice after cutting the line at Dayton. If I hadn’t, I am afraid that the people behind me and approaching the line cutters would have been less polite than I was. If not enforced, cutting the line could well result in some serious altercations. No one wants that.
Correct, except for Dayton. How do you deal with that? The signage isn’t stopping people.
I often see people blatantly ignore the Pine Street barricades and drive right on down. I hear horns & shouting every Friday afternoon when somebody attempts to cut in line rather than admit their mistake, go back, and get in line properly. Posting an officer at Pine & Edmonds way would help but since it the line fluctuates so much it’s not viable.
There should be a 800 number to call, which dispatches a LE officer who is already on the beat near the ferry dock. They could come issue a citation promptly, upping the credibility of the laws and dissuading many other prospective violators.
