The building that was once home to the Edmonds Rite Aid store in the Highway 99 Ranch Market complex has a new tenant: Planet Fitness.

Construction is underway for the 22,000-square-foot fitness center, which is expected to open in October. According to a news release, the facility will offer amenities that include cardio machines and strength equipment, 30-Minute Express Circuit, locker rooms with showers, flat screen televisions, HydroMassage beds, massage chairs and tanning beds.

The Rite Aid store closed in September 2023

  1. Thankful to see businesses moving in to vacant spaces on HWY99. All of this is good for the community and also helps with the vibrancy of the area. This includes the Plum Tree Plaza, the new pilates location on 238th, and now this as well. Vacant spaces only add to the crime and safety issues. Hopefully with these news businesses, the city continues to provide the safety measures that are required from our men and women in the EPD to make this all conducive to running a business and to patrons (residents). If we could only do something about the state of the motels in the area, much like Seattle did along the Aurora corridor with a 3 instances law which removed their business license if they had three felony level responses in 12 months. FWIW – the situation seems more controlled than it ever has been, despite the fact there are still issues of course. A big thank you to all involved.
