I’m guessing, at this point, the owner really isn’t coming back for the boat…
Boat is from the original Andy’s boathouse located on the property. Later became Anderson, Marine sales and service, proprietor was Howard Anderson Junior.
I can’t exactly recall the full story, but I vaguely remember the boat being placed there as a small commemorative of Andy’s Boat House when the property was sold. I think it was when the city bought the property to make that little park. Andy’s was a thriving business of pleasure boat storage and rental boats just like that one. My parents stored a small runabout there in the early 60’s just before completion of the small boat harbor. Andy’s, Haines Warf, and other boat houses were a great source of employment for teenagers at that time and a big part of the “action” on our waterfront. It was a “working Waterfront” back then.
