Teresa’s reminder is so important. “The press” is the only business specifically called out in the Constitution, right there in the First Amendment~ “Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech or of the press…”
An informed public is necessary if democracy is to survive and thrive. Fact-based reporting, focusing on truth (it’s called journalism) is now more important than ever. Too many people get their information via social media, much of which is just noise; there’s no way to be confident of the truth of anything on social media.
