In today’s headlines: Food stamp benefits ending, immigration arrests in Tacoma and Lakewood, and President Trump signals he may not leave when his term ends in 2028.

Te: Trump and his term. If you cannot tell when he is simply trolling, you should get a different job. BTW : year one of his four year term is not quite over.
Mr. Demme, for those of us who grew up believing we could take the words of a sitting President at face value, it’s difficult to now dismiss some of his words as “simply trolling.” You expect news media to be savvy enough to distinguish trolling (another word for lying) from truth, but what about the rest of us?
My crystal ball is broken, so my workaround is to hit the mute button whenever I hear Trump’s voice~ saves me the trouble of guessing whether he’s being truthful or not truthful.
A well-functioning free society depends on accurate information being available to the public, to the voters. When people in high office purposefully distribute untruths, what you call “trolling,” democratic processes are disrupted. I’m beginning to fear that’s the point~ especially if this continues for 3 more years.
Roger,
“A well-functioning free society depends on accurate information being available to the public, to the voters. When people in high office purposefully distribute untruths, what you call “trolling,” democratic processes are disrupted.”
— Are you talking about our mayor? My crystal ball is broken too.
Frank, there exists a specific group of individuals who appear to accept whatever information is presented to them, such as assertions that President Biden was “mentally sharp” and has never experienced any significant cognitive challenges. This seems to represent their interpretation of democracy. Frequently, these are the same people who regarded Kamala Harris as their intellectual figurehead. It is disheartening that coverage of Hispanic matters is often eclipsed by partisan discussions, particularly given the vast and varied array of subjects that warrant examination.
This is true and I’m getting tired of it
Roger, you have a serious case of TDS. It’s easily identified but very difficult to cure. Apparently time is your only available cure.
Hey Roger, where were you when Obama was boldly lying about the ACA ? Supported by every MSM outlet and immediately needed tax subsidies. Where were you when Biden boldly lied about the wide open southern border allowing fifteen or more human debris from all over the planet to just walk in and start getting tax payers largess and dropping anchor babies everywhere? I did not see one MSM outlet do other than pander to that travesty. I voted for Trump because 55 years in the work force showed me what socialism ( you may call it democrat) rule when that create a situation of vastly more people riding in the societal wagon than pulling it. Opinions may vary.
human debris from all over the planet… dropping anchor babies everywhere?
I’m torn whether this is more arrogant or more inhumane, but bundling whole groups into stereotypical dehumanized “debris” with no regard to need or value is simply breathtaking. I’m reminded of the Wannsee Conference.
Wow. Talking about human beings who are people, just like you and me, as “human debris” and “anchor babies”. Dehumanizing living, breathing, feeling people…….No words.
I stand by my comment posted above. When the only responses are cries of TDS and bothsiderism, I know I’ve struck a chord. All that trolling from MAGAworld has gotten to the point even they can’t distinguish truth from falsehood any more.
No chord has been struck. TDS is simply a quick way to refute your biased and emotional comments that have no basis in fact. Rather, it’s an emotional response to everything Trump. You should listen to all sides and give credit when due. That’s all.
It never ceases to amaze me how many conservatives assume others should “listen to all sides,” but remain stoutly unaware, or in ignorance, of arguments and events contrary to their own views. And they certainly seem unaware of their own “emotional response” to opposing views or anything critical of Trump.
Wow , I seem to have hit a hard trigger for Mr. Brown and Ms. Eck. SO be it. I am an America First sort of fella and a “culturist” which means while I recognize and ( in some cases ) celebrate other cultures, I hardly think all cultures are the same or of equal value. That would be insane to consider. SO what do I call people who came here from every corner of the planet and simply walk in, most of which have zero skills useful in a post modern world and many who have no design on assimilating to become Americans? I thought about it and “human debris” was the term that occurred to me as while it may offend some, it is accurate. Also if you don’t know that millions of anchor babies have happened in this nation going back to Reagan or before, you haven’t paid attention. No one deserves to be in America just because they want to. If you think that , you are not rational.
Frank, thank you for commenting without much restraint. It shines a big, beautiful light on the core of MAGAverse: A group of individuals who can only feel good about themselves by dehumanizing “others”; creating a value-hierarchy for human existence (with MAGA members being at the top); using vile, reductive language to describe anyone who dares question their supreme leader; and by figuratively plugging their ears and singing “la la la la” when anyone attempts to present a different perspective. Speaking of “not rational”.
