The Tony Awards winner Broadway musical Hey, Dolly! is finally in theatres. It is a play that was
first performed back in 1964 after adapting the story from a famous play called The
Matchmaker. This is a heart-touching yet witty journey of a woman named Dolly Levi who after
the loss of her husband becomes a matchmaker. New Yorker Dolly Levi is then called by Horace,
a millionaire, to help him score a date with Irene who is a milliner in town. However, Dolly is
interested in Horace too making this love-triangle a thematic tool for a rather strong plotline
that has philosophical values. Horace also asks Dolly to divert his niece’s attention from an artist
named Ambrose because Horace thinks an artist cannot have a proper career that serves well.
Dolly goes against his commands and follows her heart by sending the lovebirds to a dance
contest in New York. Furthermore, she plays a trick that disheartens Horace from Irene and he
goes on a date with Dolly instead. That is when Horace sees his niece with her lover and the
evening becomes rather critical. Another encounter with workers who helped Dolly in getting
Horace turn away from Irene adds to the already complex situation. Dolly is disappointed by
Horace’s materialistic approach and leaves. However, Horace gives the young couple permission
to marry and grants a promotion to workers to make it up to Dolly and things end well. Played
by Donna Murphy and Bette Midler, Dolly’s heart-warming role will soften anyone’s heart. You
can watch many talented artists perform on stage for this joyous romantic-comedy, get Hello Dolly tickets now and you will never regret. The best
part of Hello, Dolly! is that on the surface it might seem like a simple theme but in reality it is a
show that makes one question their priorities in life.
