“Here Comes the Sun” steelband concert
June 12 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm$10 – $18
The youth steelbands of Steel Magic Northwest will present their annual “Here Comes the Sun” concert to welcome summer at the Edmonds Center for the Arts on Sunday, June 12th, at 5:00 p.m. The annual event returns to being a live, indoor event after two years of being online-only due to COVID restrictions.
The groups will perform a widely-varied repertoire of classical, pop, samba, salsa, calypso and soca music in their annual season-pinnacle concert to welcome the summer. The groups range in size from 22 to 32 players – large enough to have a fuller, more orchestral sound than is typical in the Pacific Northwest. The concert will feature performances by their flagship ensemble, the Pan Wizards Steel Orchestra, a group of high school-aged musicians most of whom have been performing in the steelband organization for six or seven years. Their director is Edmonds resident and steelpan artist Gary Gibson.
Tickets for the concert range from $10 – $18, and are available from the Edmonds Center for the Arts Box Office, www.ec4arts.org, (425) 275-9595, 410 Fourth Avenue, Edmonds.
